How CONNECT carries HTTPS traffic
The client asks the proxy to open a TCP tunnel to a destination host and port. After the tunnel is established, the client negotiates TLS with the destination through that tunnel. Dropstride relays the encrypted traffic without decrypting the HTTPS content.
The client-to-proxy endpoint is an HTTP proxy. That is distinct from the HTTPS destination inside the tunnel. Proxy authentication and ordinary HTTP traffic are not encrypted by that outer HTTP connection; use a trusted network and keep credentials private.
Enter the four connection fields
Wait until your complete order is ready, then export the proxy list from the dashboard. The four colon-separated fields are the IP, port, username, and password. Use separate fields when your client provides them.
IP:PORT:USERNAME:PASSWORD- Proxy type: HTTP
- Proxy host and port: the exact values in your order
- Authentication: the supplied username and password
- Destination: a public HTTP or HTTPS endpoint on port 80 or 443
Test with curl
Replace the placeholders with your assigned values. Supplying only the username makes curl prompt for the proxy password, keeping it out of the command text. Run the test on a trusted machine and never post verbose output containing credentials.
curl --connect-timeout 10 --max-time 30 \
--proxy http://IP:PORT \
--proxy-user USERNAME \
https://example.com- A 407 response points to proxy authentication.
- A timeout can mean the rental is not ready, expired, exhausted, or unreachable.
- A website challenge after the tunnel connects is a destination decision.
Protocol limits to check
Dropstride does not provide SOCKS5, UDP relay, or access to private networks and cloud metadata. Public destination ports 80 and 443 are supported. If your client only accepts SOCKS5 or an encrypted HTTPS proxy endpoint, this product does not match that requirement.
A working tunnel verifies connectivity. It does not verify that a particular retailer will allow your session or complete a purchase.
